International Contemporary Music Festival named Sofia Gubaidulina «Concordia»

Creative direction due solely to contemporary music and its promotion of a wider audience. Most of the works included in the festival program, heard for the first time in Kazan.

The first CONCORDIA Festival was dedicated to the 80^th anniversary of composer Gubaidulina. She accepted the idea of establishing the type of contemporary music forum in Kazan with great enthusiasm. Her welcoming letter to the festival runs as follows, ‘Your intention to support this contemporary art and to give the Festival a name of CONCORDIA, which stands for concord and reconciliation, is a very important, though an uneasy, step. This is an important event for me. I have high hopes for the festival’.

CONCORDIA is held every November in Kazan.
