One of the few clarinetists in the world who has opted for an exclusively solo career. He was born in 1978 in Moscow, in a family of musicians. At the age of 5 he entered Moscow's secondary specialized Gnesin's music school. In 2001 he graduated from the Russian Gnesin's Academy of Music, and in 2003 - completed post-graduate studies at the Academy (the class of People's Artist of Russia, Professor I.P.Mozgovenko). He underwent training at master-courses led by such outstanding Masters as Julian Milkis (Canada) - clarinet, Maurice Bourg (France) - chamber ensemble. He studied conducting with acclaimed Russian Master of the arts, Professor M.A.Samorukova. Igor Fyodorov embarked on concert activity at the age of 13. The very first appearances of the young clarinetist won rave reviews of the press. He participated in numerous large-scale international projects, appeared before Her Royal Highness Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain and Pope John Paul II. In his school and student years I.Fyodorov was a grant-winner of the charity funds "New Names" and "Yamaha", the V.Spivakov fund and M.Rostropovich fund (the S.S.Prokofiev stipend). His name was entered into the Golden book of young talents of Russia "20th century - to the 21st ". I.Fyodorov became a winner of several International competitions, including the competition of clarinetists of the French firm "Buffet Crampon" (1995, Harkov, Ukraine) and the competition TIJI (1997, Bratislava, Slovakia). He was accorded a special prize "Best ensemble musician" at the International Y.Bashmet competition. As of 1994 I.Fyodorov has been playing the clarinet which was a gift from Vladimir Spivakov. In 1999 I.Fyodorov was the first among clarinetists to become soloist of Moscow State Philharmonic Society. He appears with solo and chamber programmes. He plays together with symphonic and chamber orchestras, such as - The Tchaikovsky Grand Symphony orchestra (conductor - V.Fedoseyev), the orchestra of the Bolshoi theatre (conductors - A.Lazarev, P.Sorokin), chamber orchestra "Virtuosi of Moscow" (conductor - V.Spivakov), "St.Petersburg Kamerata" (conductor - S.Sondetskis), the orchestra of St.Petersburg chapel (conductor A.Chernushenko), "Musica viva" (conductor - A.Rudin), Geneva chamber orchestra (conductor - B. Shembri), РНО (conductor A.Sladkovski), philharmonic orchestras of Russian towns, as well as orchestras of Slovakia, Switzerland, Italy and Lithuania. Among I.Fyodorov's regular partners on stage are such musicians as pianists A.Gindin, D.Matsuyev, E.Mechetina, violinists G.Murzha, A.Bayeva, cellists B.Andrianov, D.Shapovalov, F.Grobene (Luxemburg), viola players D.Rossi, (Italy), A.Galkovski, D.Grishin, soprano A.Samuil, N.Gerasimova, L.Semenina, Y.Ivanilova, flutist M.Fedotova, oboist A.Ogrinchuk, clarinetist Y.Milkis, "Dominant-quartet", quartet of the chamber orchestra "Soloists of Moscow" and others. I.Fyodorov toured in 25 countries. He appeared in such famous venues as Barbican - Centre, London, Carnegie Hall, New York, Musikzalle, Bazel, Santori Hall, Tokyo, Izumi Hall, Osaka, Tonhalle, Zurich, Bayer Center, Liverkuzen, Grand Hall of Moscow Conservatory, Grand Hall of St.Petersburg Conservatory. Traditional by now are concert cycles with his participation at the International House of Music in Moscow. Igor Fyodorov participated in International festivals organized by Vladimir Spivakov (Colmar, France), Mstislav Rostropovich "Musical encounters of Evian" (France), the Swedish Royal festival (Stockholm, Sweden), "Orpheum" (Switzerland), the B.Martinu festival (Prague, Czechia), A.D.Saharov festival (Nizhniy Novgorod, Russia), "Russian winter" (Moscow), "Petersburg seasons" (St.Petersburg), "Tribute to J.Strauss" (Pavlovsk), "The return" festival, chamber music festival in Kostomuksha (Karelia, Russia), D.Matsuyev festival "Crescendo" (Moscow, St.Petersburg, Yekaterinburg). In February 2005 together with a group of participants of the festival "Crescendo he was received by Russian President V.V.Putin. Music critics from various countries invariably point to Igor Fyodorov's brilliant virtuoso skill, his ability to manipulate a varied sound palette, his creative endeavor, stylistic diversity of his programmes, and originality of interpretations. He is dubbed one of the most striking performing musicians of the new generation. This musician boasts a repertoire of remarkable scope, comprising compositions of different styles, epochs and trends - from lofty classics to jazz. He was the first to perform a number of works by contemporary authors, such as L.Desyatnikov, E.Podgaitz, B.Getzelev, A.Rozenblatt, А.Baltin. The young clarinetist was entrusted with the Russian premiere of his "Pastorale" for clarinet and piano by 20th century classic R.Shedrin. A special concert composition was superscribed to him by outstanding composer T.Shakhidi. Over recent time Igor Fyodorov has been successfully appearing in the capacity of conductor. His conducting projects in Nizhniy Novgorod, Astrakhan, international forums in the town of Khanty-Mansiysk became quite an eye-opener for audiences and accorded a warm welcome and appreciative reviews. In December 2006 the town of Khanty-Mansiysk hosted the first International festival of chamber music "Style of the white nights", under the artistic supervision of Igor Fyodorov, bringing together leading young musicians of today. I.Fyodorov has participated in several jazz programmes, where he teamed up with D.Matsuyev, A.Ivanov, D.Sevastyanov, other well-known musician.
