Sofia Gubaidulina International CONCORDIA Contemporary Music Festival

Artistic spectrum of the Festival lies in the vein of contemporary music and its public propaganda. Most of the Festival programme music is first time performed in Kazan.

The first CONCORDIA Festival was dedicated to the 80^th anniversary of composer Gubaidulina. She accepted the idea of establishing the type of contemporary music forum in Kazan with great enthusiasm. Her welcoming letter to the festival runs as follows, ‘Your intention to support this contemporary art and to give the Festival a name of CONCORDIA, which stands for concord and reconciliation, is a very important, though an uneasy, step. This is an important event for me. I have high hopes for the festival’.

CONCORDIA is held every November in Kazan.
